Pouring, and healing...and peanut butter *

It's been a rough week here; Rye has been sick since Tuesday with what seems to be Roseola. It started with a fierce fever, that crested Wednesday night in a terrifying febrile seizure, and finally broke Friday night. The endless fever was followed by a full day of irritability, malaise, wailing and neediness, that is now stretching into the wee hours. And includes a rash. I'm not sure which of the three of us is more exhausted and short-tempered.

On a related topic, we now highly recommend the Braun Thermoscan ear thermometer. Would make a great baby shower gift, if you know of anyone who is expecting.

For some reason, Rye's pilot's cap makes him feel more secure and comfortable, so he's been wearing it for a couple of days. Daddy has been able to distract him today with an early breakfast (4:30am and 7:15am), some play, some Richard Scarry, and walks outdoors (three or four of them, and to be clear: Daddy is doing the walking and Rye wants neither to walk nor ride in the sling, so Daddy has been carrying him—and now is lying in bed with a heating pad on his back).

After a few smoothie-only days, Rye has upgraded his desires to "pea-nuh buddah" toast and bread, with a few grapes thrown in to wash them down. Video below, along with video of pouring and scooping beans, one of the few tricks Mommy was able to interest him in without a Sendai meltdown today (unplanned, long, worrisome, and without a fully successful ending strategy).
